January 21st, 2011
Tweet MOTOWN LEGENDS APPEAR TOGETHER Major Press Conference Location: USS Midway Museum, Flight Deck, 910 N Harbor Drive, San Diego, California Time: 11:30-12:30pm PST For the first time in 25 years, MOTOWN LEGENDS are set to appear together to endorse and pass on their legacy to a new artist, B. Taylor, as well as star in some of the scenes from Taylor’s music video for his new song, ‘ONE LIFE TO LIVE’, which will be shot aboard the Aircraft Carrier. “B. Taylor is the new sound of Classic Motown” says Motown legends – Pete Moore, Claudette Robinson (‘The First Lady of Motown’) and Bobby Rogers of Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, Mary Wilson of the Supremes, Katherine Schaffner of the Marvelettes, and Martha Reeves & The Vandellas. This endorsement is unprecedented as this many CLASSIC MOTOWN LEGENDS have only endorsed one other artist in his launch, the legendary Michael Jackson. “It is time for us, the Classic Motown legends, to come together with Hip Hop so our legacy will live on,” says Motown artist Martha Reeves of Martha & the Vandellas who had the hits ’Dancing in the Street’ and ‘(Love is Like a) Heat Wave.’ B. Taylor, an extraordinary musician and rapper who plays four different instruments has also garnered the support of the Miracles, Mary Wilson (the Supremes), Stevie Wonder, Martha Reeves (Martha and the Vendellas), Katherine Schaffner (the Marvelettes), Bobbie Smith (the Spinners) and other great legends. Pete Moore, one of the original members of The Miracles, and executive producer for B. Taylor, labeled B. Taylor “The Stevie Wonder of Hip Hop” the first time he heard him perform. B. Taylor plays four instruments like Stevie Wonder did back when he was discovered by the Miracles in the 1960s. Moore immediately knew B. Taylor was a standout artist. Moore says B. Taylor is “bridging the gap between classic Motown and Hip hop.” “Hip Hop is a derivation of Classic Motown and I felt that it would be very exciting to bring the two together, something that has never been done in the 50 year history of Classic Motown,” says Moore. Attendees at the conference will include Pete Moore (the Miracles), Claudette Robinson (“The First Lady of Motown”), Martha Reeves (Martha and the Vendellas), Katherine Schaffner (the Marvelettes), Bobby Rogers (the Miracles), and Beverly Broadus Green (Snoop Dogg’s mother) to name a few. B. Taylor is the first artist of any genre to shoot a music video aboard the historic USS Midway carrier. Taylor is a former Navy sailor and was approved to shoot the video by Admiral Moynihan, the Navy’s Chief of Information and principal spokesperson in Washington D.C. with the help of Commander Robert Anderson, Director of Navy Entertainment West and Scott McGaugh, Marketing Director for the USS Midway Museum. “We are glad to have B. Taylor back for this video and are excited to be working with him,” said Commander Anderson, who will also join in the press conference. Robert (Leo) Rodgers, Executive Sr. VP of Bungalo/Universal Music Group Distribution and Navy Veteran, the distributor of B. Taylor’s music says “this is a revolutionary event with these Motown Legends passing their legacy to B. Taylor, and it’s all taking place on one of the most highly acclaimed ships in Navy history.” |
